Red Sox 7 – Angels 3

The Boston Red Sox challenged the the Los Angeles Angels Of Anaheim yesterday at Angel Stadium with the Red Sox triumphant 7 to 3. It was a thrilling night of baseball that anyone with Red Sox tickets will definitely cherish.

Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett (6.33 ERA) got the win, while Fernando Rodney (4.43 ERA) took the loss for the Angels. Josh Beckett went 7 solid innings for the Red Sox, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and 3 earned runs with one walk and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Red Sox was Manny Delcarmen (4.86), and Ramon Ramirez (4.57). The Angels’s starter Scot Shields went 1.2 innings, allowed 4 hits, 2 home runs and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Francisco Rodriguez (3.26), Rich Thompson (2.45), and Michael Kohn (9.00) also pitched for the Angels. With the win, Beckett’s record goes to 2-1, while Rodney falls to 4-1.

Marco Scutaro provided much of the offense for the Red Sox with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 7 runs, the Red Sox managed 12 hits and committed no errors. Eric Patterson and Marco Scutaro tied for most hits for the Red Sox with 3 hits, followed by Victor Martinez with 2 hits. Darnell McDonald had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. The Angels didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Angels mustered 3 runs, 6 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Todd Tichenor, Laz Diaz, Wally Bell and James Hoye. There were 44,052 Angels ticket holders in attendance at Angel Stadium.
