Red Sox Lose Close One To Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays got a tough win over the Boston Red Sox yesterday at Fenway Park with the Blue Jays victorious 8 to 7. You don’t often see such high scoring games, and anyone with Red Sox tickets sure got their money’s worth. This high-scoring game saw the teams combine for a whopping 15 runs! Talk about excitement!

Blue Jays pitcher Ricky Romero (4.26 ERA) got the win, while Clay Buchholz (3.74 ERA) took the loss for the Red Sox. Ricky Romero went 5 innings for the Blue Jays, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with one walk and 3 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Blue Jays was Brandon League (4.64), Jesse Carlson (4.73), and Shawn Camp (3.59). The Red Sox’s starter Clay Buchholz went 5 innings, allowed 8 hits, 5 home runs and 7 earned runs with one walk and 4 strikeouts. Ramon Ramirez (2.93), Takashi Saito (2.47), Billy Wagner (1.93), and Jonathan Papelbon (1.91) also pitched for the Red Sox. With the win, Romero’s record goes to 13-9, while Buchholz drops to 7-4. Jason Frasor earned the save for the Blue Jays, bringing his saves up to 11.

Adam Lind provided much of the offense for the Blue Jays with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 8 runs, the Blue Jays put up 11 hits and committed no errors. Kevin Millar and Adam Lind tied for most hits for the Blue Jays with 3 hits, followed by Aaron Hill with 2 hits. J.D. Drew and Dustin Pedroia tied for most hits for the Red Sox with 3, followed by David Ortiz with 2 hits. Kevin Youkilis could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Red Sox mustered 7 runs, 14 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Ron Kulpa, Mike DiMuro, Dale Scott and Jerry Meals. There were 37,618 Red Sox ticket holders in attendance at Fenway Park.

The win puts the Blue Jays at a record of 74-84, (28 games behind first place in the division), while the loss brings the Red Sox to 91-66, (10.5 games behind the division leader). The Red Sox will try to get a game back from the Blue Jays tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
