Rays pitcher Randy Choate (5.48 ERA) got the win, while Ramon Ramirez (4.81 ERA) took the loss for the Red Sox. Matt Garza went 3 innings for the Rays, allowed 7 hits, one home run and 4 earned runs with 2 walks and one strikeout. Also pitching for the Rays was Andy Sonnanstine (3.71), Dan Wheeler (3.16), Grant Balfour (2.06), and Joaquin Benoit (0.73). The Red Sox’s starter Daisuke Matsuzaka went 5 innings, allowed 8 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts. Dustin Richardson (2.45), and Daniel Bard (1.99) also pitched for the Red Sox. With the win, Choate’s record goes to 2-2, while Ramirez falls to 0-2. Rafael Soriano earned the save for the Rays, bringing his saves up to 22.
