Red Sox pitcher Felix Doubront (4.08 ERA) got the win, while Shawn Camp (3.06 ERA) took the loss for the Blue Jays. Daisuke Matsuzaka went 5.2 innings for the Red Sox, allowed 6 hits, 2 home runs and 4 earned runs with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Red Sox was Manny Delcarmen (4.43). The Blue Jays’s starter Ricky Romero went 6 innings, allowed 8 hits, one home run and 5 earned runs with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Scott Downs (2.14), and Jason Frasor (4.19) also pitched for the Blue Jays. With the win, Doubront’s record goes to 2-2, while Camp drops to 3-2. Jonathan Papelbon earned the save for the Red Sox, bringing his saves up to 29.
In addition to the 7 runs, the Red Sox put up 11 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Red Sox, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Blue Jays didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Travis Snider could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Blue Jays mustered 5 runs, 8 hits and one error.
